In 1976, Spiderwoman Theater was founded to engage in the discussion about the cultural, social, and economic challenges that women faced in the world. As a company which has its roots in the Native community of New York City, it brings together and gives a powerful voice to Native women artists and to members of that community. This vision is ever expanding with the new generation of Native actors, dancers, and storytellers who are passionate about taking the work that was started all those years ago and launching it into the future.
